VIRTUAL PUBLIC HEARING FOR CDBG 2020 GRANT APPLICANTS ANNOUNCED

ST. THOMAS, USVI –The Virgin Islands Housing Finance Authority (VIHFA), as the administering agency for the Community Development Block Grant, funded by the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development (HUD), announces a series of public hearings to present projects which are being considered for funding from the Fiscal Year 2020 CDBG grant allocation.

This year, in response to the COVID-19 health crisis and the continued practice of social distancing, the public hearings will be conducted using the virtual meeting platform, GoToMeeting.

The virtual public hearings schedule is as follows:

St. Croix:        Monday, May 4, 2020                        5:30 PM

St. John:          Wednesday, May 6, 2020                   5:30 PM

St. Thomas:     Thursday, May 7, 2020                      5:30 PM

Members of the public interested in participating in the virtual public hearing should visit the COVID-19 tab on the VIHFA website to www.vihfa.gov for instructions on accessing the hearing via GoToMeeting. Public input is critical to the process, so participants will be able to submit questions relative to the proposals through the on-line chat room while the hearing is in progress. As a result of the number of proposals to be presented, a strict time limit will be enforced for presented so there is adequate time for the question and answer segment.

Pursuant to the Citizen Participation Plan as approved by HUD, the U.S. Virgin Islands is required to seek public input relative to the needs of the Territory with regards to housing, homelessness, and community development, the funding priorities which should be established and the selection of activities to be funded.
