Through its programs, the VIHFA seeks to increase housing access and community development initiatives for low- to moderate-income families by developing safe, decent and sanitary homes, rental and emergency housing, educating home buyers and sponsoring programs to maintain sustainable communities in the Territory.
The VIHFA is the administering entity of various HUD funded programs designed to assist low to moderate income residents to secure affordable housing and also to spur community development. These programs include:
- Community Development Block Grant Program
- Emergency Shelter Grant Program
- HOME Program
The VIHFA is also the administering entity of the Low Income Housing Tax Credit Program in the Territory.
